August 6, 2006: Pastor Susan Heafield Appointed to the United Methodist Parish

 

Born in Montana, Susan Heafield holds a BA degree in Music Education from Rocky Mountain College, Montana, a Master of Divinity from Drew University School of Theology, New Jersey. She recently received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. Her Doctor of Ministry focus has been on congregational transformation and new church development, with special emphasis on empowering laity to create and design worship.

Rev. Heafield's most recent appointments have been in the North Georgia Annual Conference in Atlanta, as Associate Pastor at Glenn Memorial UMC on Emory University Campus, and pastor at Owl Rock UMC in Southwest Atlanta. Before moving to Georgia in 2000, Rev. Heafield served in the New England Conference in both Lyman and Brunswick, Maine.

Rev. Heafield's partner in marriage and ministry, Rev. Dr. Brian Wren, is professor of worship at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, a theological school of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Together, they have published two collections of worship songs and a third collection is near completion. Their combined adult children are Nathan in Portland, Maine, Hilary in London, England and Nicholas in Tokoyo, Japan.

Rev. Susan Heafield will begin her appointment to the United Methodist Parish on July 1, 2006. She will join Rev. Mary Jane O'Connor Ropp in the Joint Worship Farewell and Welcoming Serivice for former and new pastors on August 6 at Christ United Methodist Church on Williams Street in Vineyard Haven beginning at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
