July 1, 2007: The United Methodist Cooperative Ministry Welcomes Pastor Richard M. Rego
Pastor Richard M. Rego Appointed to the United Methodist Parish Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Richard Rego is a Licensed Local Pastor serving both the Hope and Risem Districts as pastor of the Pentecost United Methodist Church of Brockton,Mass., and the Faith Fellowship United Methodist Church of Mansfield, Mass. His emphasis has been on developing cooperative ministry and evangelism between multiple Methodist churchesin various communities.
Rev. Rego was the co-chair of the HOPE District’s Lay Leadership Team and a member of the HOPE District Ministry Team, and has also served on the Board of Church Location and Building and Congregational Development for the District. Pastor Rego continues to teach PowerPoint concepts, computer for the technologically disadvantaged, and small-group dynamics for the Conference’s Lay Leadership Academy and Lay Speaking Ministries. Pastor Rego was also director of two gospel groups – the Amen Gospel Singers of Mansfield and the Temple Singers of Brockton.
Before being appointed as Local Pastor, Richard Rego had served twelve years as Youth Minister and seven years as Ministerial Assistant at the Mansfield United Methodist Church with an emphasis on pastoral care, Christian Education, and the use of creative arts in worship.
Rev. Rego is a graduate of the Art Institute of Boston (Leslie University) and brings to our Cooperative Parish over 26 years of creative marketing management experience with well known New England companies like Bed and Bath, Grossmans’, Lechmere, Scandinavian Design, and Thermo Electron.
Pastor Rego attended Gordon Conwell’s Campus of Urban Ministries in Boston before transferring to the Candler Seminary Course of Study Program at Emory University inAtlanta, Georgia.
Pastor Rich’s partner in ministry for over thirty years is his wife Karen. Their son Christopher will be graduating Bridgewater State College in January with a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts. Their daughter Pamela is a student at Massasoit Community College, majoring in Computer Science.
